Mediterranean Cruise with Anthony Sweat A Journey to Remember

by Dani Edmunds

I recently returned from an incredible Mediterranean cruise, including a pre-tour in Rome and a post-tour in Athens. This unforgettable trip was hosted by Anthony Sweat, whose insights and devotionals made the experience even more meaningful.

Highlights in Rome

Our adventure began in Rome, where we explored iconic sites like the Vatican Museums and the Colosseum. The rich history and art in Rome always leave me in awe. Another highlight is our visit to the Rome Temple.

Onboard the Voyager of the Seas

We cruised with Royal Caribbean on the Voyager of the Seas, and as always, they delivered an exceptional experience. Our itinerary included:

  • Amalfi Coast (Salerno), Italy
  • Sicily (Messina), Italy
  • Santorini, Greece
  • Ephesus (Kusadasi), Turkey
  • Mykonos, Greece

We enjoyed private shore excursions in most of the ports, each one unique and inspiring. While I loved them all, one of my favorite stops was Ephesus, Turkey. The ruins there are the most impressive I’ve ever seen, and walking through them while learning about Paul’s mission, the final days of Mary, and John the Beloved made for an incredibly moving day.

A First-Time Stop: Mykonos

Mykonos was a new destination for me, and I was charmed by its beauty and character. The whitewashed buildings and seaside views made it one of the most scenic stops on our journey.

Spiritually Enriching Days at Sea

Our days at sea were made even more special by devotionals from Anthony Sweat. His teachings deepened my understanding of the New Testament and brought Paul’s missionary journeys to life for me.

Post-Tour in Corinth and Athens

After the cruise, we explored Corinth and Athens. One of the most meaningful moments of the trip was a devotional in Corinth, where we read Paul’s letters to the Corinthians in the very place they were written for. Reflecting on his words and applying them to our lives today was powerful and humbling.

Final Thoughts

If this trip isn’t already on your bucket list, I hope you’ll consider adding it. Walking in the footsteps of the early apostles, seeing the scriptures come to life, and experiencing these sites with a knowledgeable and faith-filled group made this journey unforgettable. You'll return home with a full heart, new friendships, and a deeper appreciation for the gospel and history.
